Is America rethinking the boundaries of science? Survey says yes

A new Pew Research Center survey released in October 2025 reveals that Americans are redefining what it means to “work in science.” While 86% associate science with biologists and 76% with engineers, many now see its presence beyond labs—58% cite farmers and 56% electricians as science-driven professionals, reflecting how scientific thinking increasingly underpins everyday work.
